[NSFW] DEM WINGS! It’s Shunya Yamashita’s Nasca by Art Storm!

So I decided to have another go at one of Art Storm’s Shunya Yamashita’s figures. How does Nasca compare to her bootlycious sister Canal? Let’s see!

Same artist, same manufacturer, different character. Nasca was released by Art Storm in 2009, a year later than Canal. What I’m looking forward to the most, coming in to this review, is to see how much Art Storm has improved within that year. Let’s see…First of all, they got the skin tone right this time. Her face isn’t as red as a tomato unlike Canal. In fact, I could even say that she’s got the perfect skin tone for such a sexy figure. There’s just enough red to emphasize the bare skin on her. She’s also got a cute face and I’ve got nothing to complain about here this time.

It’s worth pointing out how well hidden the crease line on her hair is. It’s also lovely how her strands add so much detail to her hair.

It’s also great how these used clear plastic for her goggles, although the adhesive used to stick it together is a little visible.

Despite not being the focus of the figure, Nasca’s breasts are pretty “bountiful”. Also note the poor paint job on her straps.

Her arm blade looks wicked cool.

IMG_9921

As usual, she already had no pants when I bought her. Really love the details on her long socks, especially the little wrinkles where her knee bends. I think the metal straps on the top were a nice touch.

IMG_9924

Her boots look just as good. I’m really liking the combination of sci-fi and fantasy in her design. While probably not combat functional, steel heels look pretty badass and girly at the same time.

Her panties on the other hand, are plain white. I actually think it actually adds to the sex appeal in some strange way. It puts emphasis on that little area there.

IMG_9925

Her wings are one the most awesome things about her design. It’s eye-catching, it’s detailed. It gives her the “size” which makes her worth her price.

IMG_9927

It’s obvious Art Storm put a lot of work on this part, even the back part looks awesome.

IMG_9928

One of my major problems with this figure is how they handled the base. She has an inch long hole on her back where this obnoxious white support piece fits. I have to wonder if the manufacturers could have made it any smaller. It just sticks out too much with the way it is.

IMG_9929

Her sword is badass. For such a cute and sexy design, her sword just screams demonic and feral.

IMG_9930

I can’t agree with how Art Storm went with the handle, I don’t think leaving grooves for her fingers to fit in was really necessary. Also, her freaking thumb came off when I tried to fit it in her hand the first time.

IMG_9935

Her pose without her sword looks natural enough.

IMG_9936

Without her sword covering her, it actually becomes pretty noticeable how naked she actually really is.

All in all, Nasca is a pretty good figure around the same level as Canal. They share pretty much the same quality in sculpt and paint job, meaning okay sculpt but below average paint job. Still, Nasca has a great design that puts a little more focus on style rather than sex appeal compared to Canal. I love the sci-fi/fantasy armor, the steam punk goggles, the hellish blade and the lace panties. It’s all a weird mix of different elements but I think it ultimately works when they’re put together. Again, like Canal, she isn’t super great that you’d have to scour the ends of the earth to find her. If you find her, again another hard-to-find figure now, take a good look at her. See if she fits your taste and if you really have nothing else to look forward to. Go right ahead and buy her if she feels right to you, if you think you have better things to buy, that’s okay as well. BONUS PICS TIME!

Bonus pic of Canal as well.
