Sword Art Online 21 – And Now Tentacle Hentai!

Lemme just say that Twilight never stooped this low.

Summary:

Kirito and Leafa make it to Arun, the city just below the World Tree.

Due to server maintenance, Kirito and Leafa have to log out. Yui points them to a cheap in since Kirito gave all his money to Sakuya and Leafa is a cheapskate who doesn’t wanna share.

Meanwhile, Asuna managed to find an exit.

Kazuto and Suguha see each other in the real world (Cuz’ you know? They live together?).

Asuna finds a map in the middle of a hall and discovers the room where all the abducted brains are kept.

Suguha gets Kazuto to bring her to see Asuna.

And Asuna discovers the brains and the sick experiments Sugou is performing on them.

Suddenly, tentacle hentai slugs appear!

While on the bus, Kazuto talks about how he has to start high school late because of the Sword Art Online incident. HE HAD (virtual) SEX IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Asuna finds a console which she can use to log out.

Suddenly, tentacles.

Meanwhile, Kazuto and Suguha visit Asuna in the hospital, not aware that she’s being virtually raped by tentacles.

So the tentacle hentai slugs turn out to be Sugou’s employees and they find out that Asuna was the girl Sugou was keeping in a  cage.

One of them reports to Sugou while the other has fun feeling up Asuna’s supple body with his slimy, tentacles.

The other one returns and says that they need to bring Asuna back and change the code to her lock.

Meanwhile, Suguha is stressing over her feelings for her brother.

Asuna vows to get out some day. Also, she managed to get a hold of a key card.

Leafa returns and starts tearing up because of real world dilemmas. Being the Edward Cullen that he is, Kirito offers his shoulder for Leafa to cry on.

Yui also “wakes up”. Really, whenever Kirito logs out, Yui shuts down. Don’t know what all this was about…

And so Kirito and Leafa reach the base of the World Tree.

Yui identifies Asuna’s player ID nearby and Kirito shoots to the sky.

Thoughts:

It seems that for every episode of SAO I really enjoy (like last week’s) there’s going to be an equivalent episode that would disappoint me to even things out. Well, this was one of those episodes. This episode just really made it blatantly obvious how shallow the writing is? Why? First of all, it brings up the topic of Suguha’s incestuous crush on Kazuto. What is it with anime and incest? Recently, there’s been a lot of anime little sisters squealing “Oniichan!” to their older brothers while getting caught up in perverted situations. Sword Art Online is just riding on this stupid bandwagon since the writer/s can’t come up with anything unique that would draw in readers/viewers. Given, SAO is taking a slightly more serious approach on incest but nothing is coming from it. Is Suguha making moves? No. It’s like the writers are crying wolf right now. Shouting “INCEST!” to turn heads their way when they don’t have anything to show in the first place. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think that having elements of incest instantly equates to a bad show. Yosuga no Sora had incest and they played it straight and something actually came out of it. What was that “something”? Really good drama. Drama doesn’t come from Suguha just walking around, thinking to herself. Now let’s move on to Asuna’s side of the story. While I appreciate that the writers are making her relevant again, I do have to question the logic in some of these parts. First of all, that area where Asuna wandered around was completely unguarded. Sugou has illegal experimentation going on inside one room and he doesn’t even bother to lock and hide it from the unauthorized? It’s right there on the map for everyone to see! Another thing: I get that Asuna’s a good girl and all but did she have to enter that room? I don’t think someone put in her situation would get distracted like that. Finally, what was up with those slug people? I know, they’re in a game (Who puts their evil lair in an online game anyway?), but did they have to have tentacles? They could have been human just like anybody else. Nope. Writer wanted tentacles. *Sigh* I used to like this show. Things started going downhill since the ALO arc. First half had some really memorable scenes like Lizbeth confessing to Kirito while falling from the sky, Yui disappearing and then Sword Art Online coming to an end. The ALO arc is just begging to be a hentai with incest, NTR and now tentacles!

Hey look, a Facebook page.

THANK GOODNESS I wasnt the only one that noticed this! I thought they were finally shrugging off the whole theme of incest in the last ep. BUT NOOO, they just HAD to spark the SuguxKirito all over again. And that tentacle scene just made me SMH.. I just wish they get the whole ALO arc over because the amount of weird Japanese concepts in this ARE TOO DAMN HIGH!

ok, so i understand your “thoughts”. but i have some opinion on some of it.
    1. incest. it went big since papakiki i think (i’m not big fan of anime till a year ago or so. don’t judge me). they might used it to give that little worry to the viewers or something.and is a viewer quantity booster.
    2. tentacle. its objective is to make a situation for fanservice. a ridiculous one that is. nothing more nothing less. and is a viewer quantity booster.
3.asuna wendering freely. you REALLY have a point there.

i loved SAO. but from the start of ALO arc, it felt like a forced continuation. it was best to end it after Sword Art Online ended.

    good blog BTW!

Well, personally the writer can do whatever he wants.
It’s just an amine so there’s no need to get worked up with it.

The writer has to make something that would sell. There’s a whole studio backing his idea and making it into an anime and if that anime isn’t going to sell well than someone is going to get shit for this and it’s probably the writer. So how is writer supposed to sell? By making people get worked up about it. That’s how Twilight sold. Twilight was teen pandering crap but it sold because it got people talking about that shiny vampire guy named Edward.

And by the way, I do believe there’s more to anime than simple entertainment. Anime is pretty much just like books and movies. Most of the time, they’re made for simple entertainment but once in a while, you’d get this work of art that really blows your mind and stirs your emotions and gets you thinking.
